There’s Always Savings To Be Had

It was outrageous to me that Amazon was paying their own employees upwards of $90 per day per employee for parking (sometimes with multiple instances of this per employee per day) when I was renovating Amazon’s 43 IT peripheral vending machines across their Seattle campus. The first day I was aware of this I sought to change it, and I did. As vend technicians we went from office to office remapping, reprogramming, and restocking vending machines that vended IT peripherals (mice, keyboards, memory sticks, etc.). The first day I was transitioned to this duty, I pulled into the parking garage of the building I was to work in that day, and noticed it was going to cost me $80 if I was there more than 6 hours! There was no way I was going to allow my employer to incur this totally unnecessary cost. I backed out of the garage, and after a quick brainstorming session, I pulled up to the loading dock around back and persuaded the dockmaster to let me park in the loading dock and use the freight elevator! This killed two birds with one stone! I did this for all 43 Amazon buildings across the Seattle campus that had vending machines. This equated to big savings for my employer!
