Make Friends

The CEO of Zavtek’s biggest complaint for my first three months of employment with the company was the exorbitant cost of our rented box trucks that our technicians use to haul job supplies from warehouse to jobsite and vice versa. I lobbied to get control of the purchasing of these trucks and when I did, I lowered our daily cost from $180 per day to $100 per day by means of befriending a representative from a local truck rental company. That’s an over 40% savings spread across four separate sites saving my employer over $1000 per month. On top of the immediate savings I recouped, the new truck rental spot saved an hour round trip for our technicians on pickup and drop-off.
